Jesus Raises Lazarus

Jesus calls Lazarus out of the tomb

Jesus learned that His friend Lazarus was very sick, but He did not come at once. When Jesus arrived in the town of Bethany , Lazarus had already been dead for four days.

Lazarus’s sisters, Martha and Mary , were very sad. They said that if Jesus had come earlier, their brother would not have died.

Jesus asked the people to move the stone away from the tomb. Then He prayed and said loudly:

“Lazarus, come out!”

Lazarus came out of the tomb alive, still wrapped in burial cloths. This miracle showed that Jesus has power over death and that nothing is impossible for God.
